Dragon's Dogma 2 has poor 37 percent of mostly negative reviews

Updated: Apr 30

Dragon's Dogma 2 has a poor 37 percent of mostly negative reviews due to a huge paywall and FPS issues.

As of March 22, 2024, Dragon's Dogma 2 has officially launched globally for fans of ARPGs and the DD game published by Capcom itself. Unfortunately, the game hours of its first launch wave have met many challenges, from optimization to microtransactions.

Is this review bombing?

Hours into its Steam release, players flood the review section with multiple negative reviews and complaints of microtransactions, terrible performance, and the lack of character slots. If this game was not being reviewed and bombed within the first two days of its release, the reviews would say otherwise.

Following the list of complaints, it is clear that the game could have been delayed to work out the kinks in the performance bugs. As of writing this article, the game has an FPS rating that varies between 20 and 45.

However, a host of negative reviews are from players who did not reach 2 hours of playtime in the game. In fact, a huge majority of the negative reviews merely point out the looter shooter elements you would see in a live service game.

It has been confirmed that you do not have to pay to enjoy your game. But it is sort of in your face with how much paywall is in this game. If you want to change how your character looks, you have two ways: buying and paying money for the Rift Crystals or by the in-game RC you accumulate over time.

How does it run on the Rog Ally and Steam Deck OLED

Dragon's Dogma 2 runs horribly on the Steam Deck but plays well on the Rog Ally. As a fan myself I can confirm that DD 2 plays a lot better on the Rog Ally than compared to the Steam Deck OLED. Of course you have to do some minor tweaks in order to pay the game.

I will continue to follow more on the game state and if you can play the game after its launch on your handheld.
